Overview of the tour in Madrid
Originally, between 1630 and 1640, the Retiro Park’s soothing effect was exclusively for the royal family to enjoy, hence it’s name: the ‘good rest park’ or ‘good retirement park’. But after the gardens were partially destroyed during the French invasion in 1808 they were remade and opened to the main public.
