This large park runs along the river Spree and is a prominent recreational space for Berliners. Within the park there are a number of statues and monuments, including The Soviet War memorial and Abbey Bridge, an abandoned amusement park, formerly Spreepark, as well as a restaurant and opportunities to rent row boats & peddle boats along the 4 km promenade by the river. Other points of interest in Treptower park include the Archenhold Observatory, home to the longest refracting telescope in the world, as well as cycle paths, playing fields and a large lake, Plänterwald forest and the Island of Youth with many cafés & bars.
