Overview

Berlin is not only a city to visit — it is a city to read.

In this 2.5-hour walking tour we will move through different layers of Berlin’s history and atmosphere: from the imperial capital to the Weimar years, from Nazism and the divided city of the Cold War to the transformations that shaped contemporary Berlin.

Together we will explore places such as the Brandenburg Gate, the Topography of Terror, Checkpoint Charlie and surviving fragments of the Berlin Wall. But beyond the landmarks, we will also walk through urban spaces, hidden traces and stories that reveal how Berlin still carries the memory of its fractures, conflicts and reinventions.

This tour is designed for travelers who are looking for more than a standard introduction — people interested in history, culture, urban life and the deeper identity of the city.

I’m a writer, musician and cultural guide living in Berlin for many years, and my approach combines historical storytelling with atmosphere, philosophy and everyday urban experience.

Meeting point

Five Guys - Potsdamer Platz Entrance

On arrival

Meeting point details:
We’ll meet at Five Guys – Potsdamer Platz 11.
Please note: Google Maps lists several businesses under number 11, which covers a large area. We meet at the entrance facing the main square, not the one on Alte Potsdamer Straße.
The restaurant is located right across from Potsdamer Platz train station.
I’ll be there with a red badge, standing in front of the entrance on the square side.

Things to note

I kindly recommend arriving 15 minutes before the starting time at the meeting point. This helps us start together and on time.

The tour takes place only if a minimum number of participants is reached (at least two people).
Please book in advance — if there are not enough bookings, the tour may be rescheduled or cancelled (you will always be notified by email).

Wear comfortable shoes and bring a bottle of water — we’ll walk for about 2.5 hours, mostly outdoors.
