Overview

This free walking tour takes you through the neighborhood where Berlin truly began, from Alexanderplatz to Museum Island, covering 12 stops that span medieval origins, Prussian ambition, and GDR symbolism.

What We Cover:

Power & Symbols
Start at Alexanderplatz and uncover the Cold War story behind the iconic TV Tower — including the unintentional joke the Soviets never saw coming.

Ancient Berlin
Walk through Marienviertel, Berlin's oldest quarter, and visit St. Mary's Church — one of the only structures that survived the bombing of World War II.

Revolution & Legacy
Stand at the Marx-Engels Forum and Liebknecht Bridge, where socialist ideology was carved into stone — and where you can see the Berliner Dom and Humboldt Forum together in one view.

Museum Island Wonders
Discover why Prussia built an entire island of museums to outshine Paris — now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

River & Culture
Finish at Hackescher Markt with a scenic walk along the Spree River, perfect for post-tour dining or shopping.

Note: This tour focuses on Berlin's historic city center — medieval, Prussian, and GDR layers. Not a Berlin Wall or Checkpoint Charlie tour.
