Paella & Sangria Class with Tapas and Market Visit
Overview
We’ll start at the Mercado Central, where your local guide will take you through the colourful food stalls to pick the freshest ingredients for your paella. You’ll meet local vendors, learn about the region’s products, and explore the heart of Alicante’s daily life.
Then, we’ll head to our real working kitchen inside a local restaurant, not a touristy setup. Guided by our professional chef and local host, you’ll prepare every step of your own paella — from the broth and the salmorreta (the secret base of Alicante paella) to the final golden layer of rice.
While your paella cooks, you’ll enjoy a tasting of local tapas and make your own fresh sangria to share with the group. Choose your style — seafood, meat, or vegetarian — and cook like a local!
Finally, we’ll sit together to eat, drink, and enjoy the best of Alicante’s food culture.
Local chef, local guide, local products — a truly authentic experience.

On arrival
The meeting point is Plaza 25 de Mayo, at the back entrance of Alicante’s Central Market. You’ll easily find it — there’s a metal memorial plaque on the ground marking the site of a Civil War bombing.
Your local guide will be waiting for you there to start the market visit and buy all the fresh ingredients for the workshop. They’ll be wearing a black T-shirt that says “Alicante Cooking Workshops” and carrying a traditional shopping basket (cabaçet).
Things to note
Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes, and keep in mind you may get a little messy while cooking (we’ll provide aprons).
The experience includes a short walk (5–10 min) from the market to the kitchen.
If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies, let us know in advance so we can adapt the menu.
The activity is suitable for all levels, no previous cooking experience required!
Children are welcome, but we don’t have high chairs or children’s furniture.
Bring your appetite and good mood — you’re about to cook and eat like a local!
