Shinjuku Night Out Free Tour with a Local
Overview
I'm Daiki, a 25-year-old Tokyo local who enjoys meeting travelers from around the world. I also host these experiences to improve my English.
We'll begin at a local restaurant or izakaya in Shinjuku, where we'll enjoy food, drinks, and conversation together. This is a relaxed and flexible experience, so feel free to ask questions about Japanese culture, daily life, work, food, or anything you're curious about.
After dinner, we'll explore some of Shinjuku's most famous nightlife areas:
• Golden Gai – a maze of tiny bars with a unique atmosphere
• Omoide Yokocho – nostalgic alleys packed with yakitori stalls and local history
• Kabukicho – Tokyo's famous entertainment district filled with neon lights and stories
Along the way, I'll explain Japanese nightlife culture, including host clubs, hostess bars, drinking customs.
Food is flexible depending on your preferences and budget. Whether you'd like sushi, yakitori, tempura, okonomiyaki, unagi, or Japanese sake, I'll help you find a great local spot.
This activity includes:
- Guided walk through Golden Gai, Omoide Yokocho, and Kabukicho
- Introduction to Tokyo nightlife culture and history
- Explanations of host clubs, hostess bars, drinking customs, and local etiquette
- Recommendations for local restaurants, bars, and hidden spots
- English/Japanese cultural exchange with a Tokyo local
- Photos during the experience (upon request)
On arrival
Please meet me in front of the Giant 3D Cat at Shinjuku East Exit.
The Giant 3D Cat is located above Cross Shinjuku Vision, just outside Shinjuku Station East Exit. It is one of Shinjuku's most famous landmarks and easy to find.
I will send you a message before the tour and will be waiting near the Giant 3D Cat. If you have any trouble finding the meeting point, please contact me through the platform.
Things to note
This is a free tour. Guests are responsible for their own food and drinks.
I will also join the meal as part of the experience. If you enjoy the evening, you're welcome to cover my meal and drinks and/or leave a tip. Any generosity is greatly appreciated, but never expected.
