Overview of the tour in Lisbon
Starting at your hotel, we will drive to the newest neighborhood of the city, the "new" Lisbon, the Park of Nations quarter, where in 1998, was held the World Fair (Expo 98). With it’s modern architecture, projects from world renowned architects like Santiago Calatrava from Cataluna, Spain, whom conceived and designed, what for many people is considered the most beautiful train station in the world: “Estacao do Oriente”. This fantastic architecture is a mixture of iron and glass, resembling palm trees, inspired on the discovery of tropical Brazil by the portuguese seafarers in 1500 then to we’ll arrive at Saint George’s Castle (old moorish fortress), Where you will be overwhelmed with one of the most spectacular panoramic views of Lisbon, as well as of the estuary of the Tagus river. Time to visit the Belem quarter (Bethlehem), the monumental area dedicated to the great portuguese seafarers of the 15th and 16th centuries. Here we will visit the Tower of Belem (the symbol of Lisbon), the monastery of St. Jerome (Mosteiro dos Jeronimos), a masterpiece of portuguese 16th century architecture and World Heritage Monument by UNESCO, and the monument to the Discoveries.
