Lisbon Tour - The Historic Downtown: Baixa, Chiado & Alfama
Overview of the tour in Lisbon
Our walk covers the most interesting neighborhoods of downtown Lisbon. All of the areas have different atmospheres and styles. We get to know the elegant Baixa, rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake. We will visit the bohemian Chiado district and then end our walk in the old Alfama. We also use secret shortcuts to see the most with the least climbing.
We will visit a hidden palace in Baixa before we save you from a queue at one of the city's best viewpoints. We get to know the characteristics of urban architecture before and after the earthquake. We understand why Lisbon looks the way it does today. In addition to the basic historical context, we also get answers to some small but interesting details.
This activity includes:
- Chiado
- Rossio Square South Fountain
- The Central House Lisbon Baixa
Our Guides
On arrival
The meeting point is at the south end of Rossio Square, under the Arco do Bandeira (Bandeira Arch), on the corner of the square and Rua dos Sapateiros. The Arco do Bandeira is a yellow and white building that is also a gateway. The statue in the middle of the square is looking right at it. I will have an Attila Tour Guide badge on my neck.
