As well as being childishly fun to say, owing to that first syllable's proximity to a rather rude word in English, Kunstquartier Bethanien is also a great little freebie to check out. A former hospital, this beautiful building now houses galleries of alternative art from internationally renowned artists and also contains studios for local artists and groups, thanks in no small way to squatters and creative activists who prevented the building being demolished in the 1970s. There is a fantastic park and gardens surrounding the building and in the Summer months there are regular open-air movie screenings in the inner courtyard of the complex. Which is nice.
