Things to note
Travel Documents:
Ensure you have a valid passport and any necessary visas for entry into Zanzibar, Pemba, and Tanzania. Some countries may require a visa on arrival, while others may need to arrange one in advance.
Health Precautions:
We recommend checking with your healthcare provider for any vaccinations before travel, such as Yellow Fever, Malaria prevention, and Typhoid, especially if visiting rural or forest areas.
Currency:
The local currency is Tanzanian Shilling (TZS), though US dollars are widely accepted in tourist areas. It’s advisable to carry some local currency for small purchases. Credit cards are accepted in most hotels and restaurants.
Packing Tips:
Lightweight clothing suitable for warm weather is recommended, along with a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses.
For safaris, pack sturdy, comfortable footwear, binoculars, and a camera. A light jacket is recommended for early mornings and evenings.
If diving or snorkeling, bring a swimsuit and towel. We also provide necessary gear, but personal equipment is always welcome.
Electricity:
Zanzibar, Pemba, and mainland Tanzania use a 230V supply with a three-pronged plug (type G). Please bring an adapter if needed.
Local Culture:
Zanzibar and Pemba are culturally rich, predominantly Muslim regions. Dress modestly when visiting local villages or religious sites. Respectful behavior is always appreciated.
Wildlife and Safety:
While on safari, always follow your guide’s instructions and stay within designated areas for your safety. Never approach or disturb the wildlife.
Mobile Network & Wi-Fi:
Mobile coverage is good in urban areas but may be limited in more remote locations. Wi-Fi is available at most hotels and lodges, but we recommend checking with your accommodation for the availability of high-speed internet.
