Overview
Prison Island, a twenty-five-minute boat ride from Stone Town, was once meant for a prison but instead became a quarantine station.
Today it is home to over one hundred giant Aldabra tortoises, some more than a century old. Visitors can feed the tortoises, explore the old prison ruins, and swim or snorkel in the clear waters.
