Overview of the tour in Zanzibar
You'll be picked up early in the morning from your hotel in Zanzibar. After an early and short flight from Zanzibar, your driver and his safari vehicle are waiting for you to explore this gem. Selous GR (Nyerere NP) is one of the largest remaining wilderness areas in Africa.
The reserve is crossed by the second biggest river in Tanzania, the Rufiji River, creating a very dynamic ecosystem. Selous is home to over 350 species of birds and reptiles, species of plants account for about 2000 species as well as a wide range of wildlife from African bush elephants, lions hippopotami, Cape buffaloes, Masai giraffes, zebra crocodiles, and everything in between.
It is also one of the most important sanctuaries in Africa for the endangered African wild dog. A bush lunch as a welcome break, and a late afternoon flight back, completes your safari day. You'll be driven back to your hotel in Zanzibar.
