Sarajevo Through Time: Free Walking Tour with Historical Photos
Overview
This walking tour takes you through the heart of Sarajevo, from the Ottoman old town of Baščaršija to the Austro-Hungarian district and the famous Latin Bridge, where the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand changed world history.
Along the way, you will visit important landmarks including the City Hall, Sebilj Fountain, Kazandžiluk, Morića Han, Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque, the Meeting of Cultures, the Old Synagogue, the Sacred Heart Cathedral and the site of the 1914 assassination.
To bring history to life, I use historical photographs, old maps and visual material on a tablet, allowing you to compare Sarajevo through different periods of its history, from the Ottoman Empire and Yugoslavia to the modern city you see today.
This tour is not only about dates and events. It is also about everyday life, traditions, coffee culture, religion, architecture and the stories that make Sarajevo one of the most fascinating cities in the Balkans.
Join me and discover why Sarajevo is often called the Jerusalem of Europe and the city where different cultures and civilizations have met for centuries.
