Overview of the tour in Marrakech

This popular day trek is ideal for trekkers who will be attempting to climb Mount Toubkal. We grade it as a 'moderate' day trek due to its almost 900m of ascent and descent and approx. 6 hours of walking. It offers many great views of both the Imlil and Imnane Valleys from several points in the route.

I will come & pick you up from your Hotel in Marrakech at 8:00 am. Then, we drive towards the high Atlas mountains, which are very close to Marrakech city. We will have a drive of 64km, which will take about an hour and 30 minutes to arrive at the village of Imlil, the start point of our hike.

From the center of Imlil 1740m, we first head up the Tamatert Valley to the Tizi n'Tamatert pass (2,280m) via the Berber villages of Ait Souka and Tamatert. From the pass, we head into the Moroccan pine forest and pick up a trail that leads to the summit of Adrar Talamrout.

Reaching the summit of Adrar Talamrout (2,600m), there's time to marvel at the view of the Imenane Valley and the Berber villages of Amskere and Ikkiss before we begin our descent back to Imlil. We'll enjoy a lunch break on our way down. After that, we drove back to Marrakech.

On arrival

Once you book with us, we will reach out to you through WhatsApp to confirm the pick-up, which will be close to your Riad or hotel. Notice, if you are staying outside Medina or Gueliz parts, we can meet at Hotel Ali near the square of Jamaa Elfna.

Things to note

Requires good shoes for hiking with grips. Small backpack to carry water and your things.
