Materuni is home to the Chagga tribe, an authentic village just 15 km from Moshi and the last stop before Kilimanjaro National Park.
Your adventure begins in Moshi, where our English-speaking guide will pick you up and drive you to Materuni Village. Upon arrival, you'll register at the village office, and the journey starts!
First, enjoy a scenic 40-minute walk to the stunning 80-meter-high waterfall. Along the way, your guide will share insights about Chagga culture, village life, and the local fauna and flora. With some luck, you may even catch a glimpse of Mount Kilimanjaro's peak. Don’t forget your swimwear for a refreshing dip in the waterfall’s pool!
Next, immerse yourself in the local coffee experience. Learn how coffee is grown, dried, roasted, and processed, and even try your hand at grinding it while enjoying traditional Chagga songs and dances. End the experience with a freshly brewed cup of coffee!
