Overview
We will explore the historic streets of Kathmandu, where ancient temples, royal palaces, traditional markets, and local neighborhoods reveal the rich heritage of the Kathmandu Valley. More than just a sightseeing tour, this experience is a journey through the history, culture, and daily life of the people who have shaped this remarkable city for centuries.
Our walk begins in the vibrant streets of Thamel, Kathmandu’s famous traveler district, before heading into the old city areas where local life continues alongside centuries-old traditions. We will visit the historic Ason Market, one of the city’s oldest trading centers, where you can experience the colors, sounds, and flavors of everyday Kathmandu. The highlight of the tour is the magnificent Kathmandu Durbar Square, the former royal palace area and a masterpiece of Newari architecture. You will learn about Nepal’s kings, ancient temples, local legends, traditional festivals, and the fascinating stories behind the monuments.
During the walk, I will share stories about Nepalese culture, Hindu and Buddhist traditions, architecture, festivals, food, and the events that have shaped Kathmandu throughout history.
