Secret Heroes of World War II: Warsaw Free Tour

Step into Warsaw’s unforgettable wartime history on a tour that reveals the bravery, sacrifice, and resilience of those who stood up during one of the city’s darkest periods. We begin at Saxon Gardens, the former site of the Cypher Bureau, where Polish codebreakers first cracked the Enigma code—a turning point in WWII.

From there, we continue to the Presidential Palace to revisit the daring and cinematic assassination of Franz Kutschera, known as “The Butcher of Warsaw.”

Entering the Old Town, we stop by the beloved Wedel Chocolate Café to uncover how this iconic factory survived the occupation. At the Royal Castle, you’ll hear about the siege of Warsaw and the leadership of General Walerian Czuma and Mayor Stefan Starzyński, along with the extraordinary efforts of everyday citizens.
