Overview

Step into a meaningful walk through the history of Jewish Warsaw during the World War II. Before the war, the city was home to the largest Jewish community in Europe, but this world was brutally destroyed under Nazi occupation. The walk will take you deep into the story of the Warsaw Ghetto – its creation, daily life, and its liquidation.

At Grzybowski Square, you will be introduced to the history of Jewish presence and vibrant pre-war life in the city. Moving forward, you will see the Nożyk Synagogue – the only synagogue in Warsaw that survived the war. Along the way, you will discover stories of courage – silent heroes like Janusz Korczak or the staff of Bersohn and Bauman Children's Hospital.

You will visit the Ghetto Walls and Waliców Street, which remain in today's city, silent witnesses. We'll end the tour at the site of the wooden footbridge on Chłodna Street, a haunting symbol of separation between the small and large ghettos and between two worlds – Jewish and non-Jewish. Here you will uncover the story of the "Great Action" of 1942.

Join me for a walk – a journey through the darkest chapter of Warsaw's history – that erased a community and left behind memories.
