Hidden in Plain Sight: Toronto's Public Art Free Tour
Overview
Scattered across downtown are dozens of works in bronze, stone, steel, and paint. Most people walk right past them every day. This tour changes that.
You can spend an afternoon in a gallery behind velvet ropes. Or spend two hours outside, moving through the places where Toronto built itself, learning the stories the works tell. A sculpture that captures a city's relationship to immigration. A mural that didn't ask anyone's permission. Art that doesn't explain itself until someone asks why it's there.
Starting at the Monument to Multiculturalism outside Union Station, we walk through the South Core, Olympic Park, the Financial District, Entertainment District, and St. Lawrence. Twelve stops. Two hours. A completely different way of seeing the city you thought you knew.
Your guide is not an art historian. He fell down a research rabbit hole and never climbed back out. Expect enthusiasm over authority and good stories over theory.

On arrival
Meet *outside* of Union Station by the large clock tower in the plaza on Front Street. Your guide will have a white sign that says FREE TOUR.
Things to note
Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Tours will depart in any weather conditions. Public toilets are available inside the train station before we depart; there will be limited public toilets available along the route, particularly on evening and weekend tours.
Please notify your guide of any accessibility needs at the start of the tour. The full route is fully accessible; however, guests should be comfortable walking 5km (3 miles) on mostly flat terrain with some hills over 2-2.5 hours.
How can the tour be free?
Our concept is simple — there is no set price. Instead, you tip your guide at the end of the tour whatever amount feels right to you. Typically, guests give between $10 to €50, depending on their satisfaction and budget.
Most guides accept cash or card payments, or you can do it via our app.
Cancellation policy
You are free to cancel a booking anytime. We kindly remind you to cancel bookings you cannot arrive for. Being reported as absent decreases your customer level points and the benefits you can enjoy.
