Art After Dark: Toronto's Public Art Free Tour
Overview
This free tour walk takes you through some of downtown's most iconic public spaces and into a few corners even longtime Torontonians have never noticed. Along the way you'll hear about a sculpture so controversial it may have cost a mayor his re-election, a 22-tonne artwork shipped across the ocean in pieces, and a wall made of over a million hand-made ceramic fragments that looks like a simple black circle from a distance and something else entirely up close.
This is a companion to my daytime tour, Hidden in Plain Sight. If you've done that one, come see how the same city reads completely differently after dark. If you haven't, come as you are: no art background needed, just curiosity and comfortable shoes.
This activity includes:
- 1 Adelaide
- Canada Life Building
- Bay Adelaide Centre East Tower
- Osgoode Hall
- Brookfield Place
- The Concourse Building
- Shangri-La Toronto
- Union Station Toronto
On arrival
Meet in front of the main wooden doors at Toronto City Hall. Your guide will have a blue umbrella.
Things to note
Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Tours will depart in any weather conditions. Public toilets are available at the snack bar/skate sharpening stand in the square in front of City Hall (Nathan Phillips Square).
Please notify your guide of any accessibility needs at the start of the tour. The full route is fully accessible; however, guests should be comfortable walking 4 km (2.5 miles) on mostly flat terrain with some hills over 2-2.5 hours.
How can the tour be free?
Our concept is simple — there is no set price. Instead, you tip your guide at the end of the tour whatever amount feels right to you. Typically, guests give between $10 to €50, depending on their satisfaction and budget.
Most guides accept cash or card payments, or you can do it via our app.
Cancellation policy
You are free to cancel a booking anytime. We kindly remind you to cancel bookings you cannot arrive for. Being reported as absent decreases your customer level points and the benefits you can enjoy.
