Meet Timisoara: A Walk Through its History and Culture
Overview
Come explore the city with an authentic Timisorean local.
On this walking tour, we'll explore the iconic Victory Square, Union Square, Liberty Square, St. George's Square, the Bastion, the Opera House, and the Cathedral, each with a personal touch of the city's unique past. We'll also discover the architectural treasures that border these squares: Baroque, Secessionist, Neoclassical, and Modern buildings that tell the city's multicultural history in every stone, glass, and detail.
Shaped by the Ottomans, Austrians, and Hungarians, Timișoara is a rich mix of cultures, languages, and architecture. On this tour, we'll not only see that diversity, but also learn how it survived during the communist era. And how it's growing and thriving now! If you'd like to explore my city's rich history with me, this is the perfect place to start!

Our Guides
On arrival
It is a small park, just behind Union Square.
In front of the park, you will see a big roundabout, and on it, you will see the cardinal points.
I will be in the middle of the park, wearing a lime colored hat.
Things to note
In spring and more so in summer, Timisoara can get hot! Make sure that you have sunscreen on and a hat.
You can refill your water bottle along the way or buy water from small markets.
It can also rain in the afternoons. Make sure to double-check the weather report and have an umbrella or raincoat.
In autumn or winter, the wind can be ruthless. It gets cold outside, so make sure you dress warm, in layers.
It might be a good idea to get a hot beverage to go!
