Overview
Join me, a licensed local guide, on a fun and engaging walking tour through Split’s historic core. Together we’ll explore Diocletian’s Palace, a 1700-year-old UNESCO site, and its most famous landmarks.
If you don't want to be in a large group then this is ideal for you as it is up to 7 people.
We’ll start at the Golden Gate, the grand entrance to the palace, where I’ll tell you about Emperor Diocletian. Then we’ll visit the Peristyle, the central Roman square surrounded by ancient columns and sphinxes. We’ll explore the Vestibule, a domed hall that once welcomed imperial guests.
We’ll pass by the Temple of Jupiter (viewed from outside), an ancient Roman temple turned baptistery. Then visit lively local spots like Fruit Square and People’s Square, where history blends with everyday life. I’ll show you parts of Diocletian’s Cellars that are free to access.
We’ll end the tour at the famous Gregory of Nin statue, where you can touch his big toe for luck and learn about his fight for the Croatian language.
This isn’t a dry history lecture; it’s a friendly gathering full of stories, fun, and local traditions, giving you an authentic taste of Split’s past and present.
