Diocletian's Palace & Old Town Free Tour of Split
Overview
I am Nađa, a local sailor, art restorer, and licensed tour guide passionate about sharing my knowledge of history, as well as local tips and tricks, with fellow travelers.
The city of Split has undergone many transitions over the course of its 1,700 years of existence. On this tour, you will learn how different influences have shaped this city and its living palace not only through architecture but also through culture, food, and customs.
During this tour, we will explore the most significant landmarks of Diocletian's Palace, built in the 3rd century by the Roman Emperor Diocletian. Beyond the ancient palace walls, we’ll also discover the charming streets of the Old Town. Highlights of the tour include the Vestibule, the Sphinx, the Substructures, the famous "Let Me Pass" street, Jupiter's Temple, Roman mosaics, Peristyle, the Golden Gate, the statue of Grgur Ninski, Pjaca, Voćni trg, the Venetian Tower, the Riva promenade, and more.
On this tour, you'll also learn about our local nuances and get insider tips on must-see places, as well as budget-friendly and "locals-approved" spots to eat.
Looking forward to showing you my hometown!

On arrival
I will be at the bottom of Hrvojeva Ulica. If you look up, you will see a grand white wall; that's the palace wall. At the bottom, on the southeast corner of that wall, there is a tower. I will be in the shade on the southern side of that tower. The exact address is Hrvojeva 1.
That point is just across from the city tour bus station and next to the street souvenir shops. Feel free to wait in the shade!
Things to note
Bring sun protection and a water bottle. Please arrive at the meeting point at least five minutes before the tour starts.
