Veliko Tarnovo one of the oldest cities in Bulgaria, is steeped in five thousand years of history and while walking through it you will dive into its magical and mystical medieval atmosphere.
The Veliko Tarnovo and Arbanasi Private Day Trip will start at 8am, when the guide will pick you up from your hotel in Sofia. The road to Veliko Tarnovo will take about 3 hours.
This town was the Bulgarian capital during the Second Bulgarian Kingdom between the 12th and the 14th century. There you especially will be able to feel the medieval spirit and enjoy the mesmerizing architecture. Veliko Tarnovo is situated along several big hills and the river Yantra. It is remarkable for its well-preserved gorgeous fortress. There you will be able to discover some of its ancient churches and see beautiful panoramic views.
Below the fortress you’ll find some old merchant streets, which still present old-style crafts. The duration of the part of the tour inside the town will be about an hour and a half. After that, you will head to the nearby small village Arbanasi, an architectural resort, famous for its old stone houses & great places for lunch.
The expected return to Sofia will be at around 7pm.
