Overview of the tour in Rome

Our tour will begin at the Theatre of Marcellus, the only theatre in ancient Rome that has survived to the present day. Then, via the Portico of Octavia, we will enter the Jewish Ghetto. Walking through the narrow streets of the Roman Ghetto, we will talk about Jewish history, see the Great Synagogue, arguably the cutest fountain in the city, and the poignant Stolpersteine – stones, remembering Holocaust victims. We will also stop at the plaque commemorating 16 October 1943, the day of the round-ups and deportations.

Getting to Trastevere, we will cross the oldest bridge in Rome, and on the Isola Tiberina, we will hear all the myths and stories connected to it. Entering the district across the Tiber (tras Tevere) and walking through the maze of its medieval streets, we will see, among others, the Church of Santa Cecilia and the heart of the entire neighborhood – vibrant Piazza di Santa Maria in Trastevere.

The tour will conclude at Piazza Trilussa, a popular local gathering spot. This perfect endpoint sets the stage for an evening of exploration, allowing you to enjoy the best of Roman and Jewish cuisines as recommended by our guides.

This activity includes:

  • Basilica Santa Cecilia in Trastevere
  • Marcello Theater
  • Portico of Octavia
  • Trastevere
  • Piazza Trilussa
  • Piazza di Santa Maria Consolatrice
  • English-speaking guide
