Overview
Porto’s food identity is built on centuries of working-class cooking, maritime tradition,
and a city that has always fed itself on what it had. This tour moves through both the
traditional and the modern over 2.5 hours and six stops, from the heart of the city
down to the Douro.
We start at Torre dos Clérigos and work our way through the city stopping for a
pastel de nata, Porto’s most iconic pastry, before heading to Conga on Rua do
Bonjardim — a Porto institution since 1976 serving one thing: the bifana. Thin pork
slices marinated in garlic, white wine and paprika, served in a crisp papo-seco roll,
eaten standing at the counter.
From there we move through Mercado do Bolhão, feeding this neighbourhood since
1839, before descending through Rua das Flores — one of Porto’s most characterful
streets — stopping for a bolinho de bacalhau along the way.
The tour ends at Cais da Ribeira with a sit-down meal at a traditional tasca, with the
Douro in front of you.
At every stop, participants order and pay directly. Total food costs run roughly
€15–25. This is a tip-based experience — your guide’s fee comes from what you
choose to leave at the end.
