Our journey begins in Oaxaca City, where we’ll set off on an exciting adventure 40 minutes to 1 hour away to the picturesque town of Xaaga, near the historic site of Mitla. Leaving the city behind, we’ll venture into breathtaking landscapes and the promise of cultural and natural treasures.
In Xaaga, immerse yourself in its history with captivating tales of revolutionary events that shaped the town’s identity. Explore ancient trails and burial sites that offer a glimpse into Zapotec traditions.
Rupestrian Art: Explore amazing rock paintings, dating back up to 4,000 years, that connect us to the region’s deep ancestral roots.
Guided Hike: Enjoy a three-hour hike through stunning landscapes, where you'll discover local plants, their traditional uses, and native wildlife.
Cultural Experience: Witness traditional loom-weaving techniques, gaining insight into Oaxaca’s renowned textiles.
Ex-Hacienda and Tombs: Visit Xaaga’s historic Ex-Hacienda and tomb, rich in layered history and cultural significance.
Along the way, we’ll pause to visit a local family who will welcome us into their home to have a traditional meal.

Meeting Point Information:
We will meet directly in front of the Oaxaca Cathedral, located in the heart of the city center. Look for us wearing t-shirts or hats with the name "Cultura Distinta," that’s our group identifier.
Things to note
Stay Protected: Bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunblock to shield yourself from the sun.
Comfortable Footwear: Wear hiking or sturdy walking shoes for a more relaxed experience during our walk.
Extra Cash: You might want to bring additional money if you’d like to purchase textiles or mezcal along the way.
Optional Mezcal Tasting: If the group has energy left at the end, we can stop for a complimentary mezcal tasting.
Local Transport: Please note that all transportation during the tour will be via local transport.
