Overview

Travel to the heart of Japanese culture with our Free Tour of Nara. We will start at Kintetsu-Nara station, in front of the Gyoki monk statue, to immerse ourselves in the imperial past of this World Heritage City.

Key points of the tour:

Temples and Tradition: we will visit the majestic Kofuku-ji, where we will discover the importance of Buddhism in the formation of Japan while admiring its iconic pagoda.

Sacred Nature: We will stroll through Nara Park, home of the famous deer messengers of the gods. I will reveal the fascinating legend of why they live freely with us.

The Big Buddha: We will cross the imposing Nandaimon Gate to reach the grounds of Todai-ji, the wooden temple that houses the largest seated Buddha in the country.

Panoramic Views: We will end at the Nigatsu-do Pavilion, the most spectacular viewpoint in the city, ideal for capturing the essence of Nara from above.

On arrival

The guide will be standing in front of the Gyoki monk statue, located at Exit 2 of Kintetsu Nara Station, and will be carrying a white and pink flag bearing the NipponTours inscription.

Things to note

Please respect punctuality. However, we will leave 15 minutes of grace to wait for any participant who arrives late. After the 15 minutes, the guide will begin the tour.
