Overview
The Freetour will focus on the historic center of Naples, where we’ll learn some basic facts about the city: when it was founded, Piazza del Plebiscito, the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola, the Royal Palace, and the San Carlo Theater.
We’ll head down Via Chiaia, where you’ll find “Pizzeria Brandi dal 1780,” famous for the history of the Margherita pizza, which I’ll share with you. Next, we’ll walk through the Galleria Umberto,to arrive at Via Toledo in front of the historic “Pasticceria Reale Pintauro dal 1785,” where we’ll discuss and taste the famous sfogliatella, a traditional Neapolitan pastry, We’ll venture into the famous Spanish Quarter until we reach Pigna Secca, the city’s largest market, where we’ll tell the story of fried pizza and where you can taste authentic buffalo mozzarella and the famous Neapolitan fried delicacies. From there, we’ll walk through Spaccanapoli, which cuts through the historic center, sharing stories, anecdotes, and charming legends.
The tour will end at Piazza del Gesù Nuovo, where we’ll tell the story of the “Cornicello,” a traditional Neapolitan amulet.
