Overview
Marrakech is a vibrant city and a true potpourri of history, traditions, and cultures. Join my walking tour and embark on a journey through history deep into the unknown parts of the Medina that most visitors have not seen.
The tour starts at the foot of the 12th century Koutoubia Minaret, which is a city landmark. Admire the stunning stonework of the Koutoubia mosque and the surrounding lush shadowy gardens. Our tour ventures into different districts, starting with the fortress housing the Royal quarters with its monumental gates. Stroll through its residential area and bustling local market before reaching the Jewish quarter, locally known as Mellah. Walk to the neighboring Bahia Palace, a series of typical riads with beautiful gardens and courtyards adorned with geometric patterns. Later, we take narrow alleyways into the Medina. We stop at a traditional bakery, then walk around the Medina’s floating market with handicraft shops and workshops, an actual festival of colors and smells. Our tour culminates on the famous Jamaa Elfna square, with musicians, acrobats, fortunetellers, storytellers, snake charmers, monkey tamers, and much more.
