Lübeck is also home to one of the oldest operating social institutions in the world - the Hospital of the Holy Spirit (Heilig-Geist-Hospital), built with funds from merchants in 1268. This Hanseatic hospital was a hospital and a hostel for the poor. It is one of the most important architectural monuments of Lübeck. A nursing home still operates here.
Artist's Corner
At the beginning of the 20th century, this view of the Old Town became a classic motif for local and visiting photographers, after which the lawn from which it opened was named the Artist's Corner (Malerwinkel). The first postcard with this view was issued in 1935.
