Overview of the tour in Jerez de la Frontera
In one of the most charming places in the city, we will visit one of the most unique urban frameworks of Jerez, where labyrinthine alleys of Muslim tradition, palaces of ancient ancestry and wineries, mix with the daily life of the neighborhood, one of the oldest from the city.
We start the visit at the Cathedral to go to the Plaza del Mercado, going up the Cuesta del Espíritu Santo, where we will enjoy the most spectacular views of the cathedral building from the Convento del Espíritu Santo, the oldest in the city.
Once inside “the city of Baco”, we will pass by the Fundador winery, linked to the Domecq surname, the oldest in Jerez, to visit the amalgamation of palaces in the area, among which the Ponce de León, Riquelme and Camporreal. We will allude to the Municipal Archaeological Museum, one of the most important in the province.
The Church of San Mateo, the Chapel of Santa Marta and the Church of San Lucas are mandatory stops on a route shrouded in mystery, as the Barrio de San Mateo is a place full of secrets, curiosities, unlikely stories and legends that still Today they surprise those who listen to them.
