Overview
Do you want to experience the true essence of Istanbul? This tour will take you to the city's most authentic and colorful neighborhoods, amid Byzantine history, Ottoman heritage and cultures that have coexisted for centuries. We will meet in front of the Spice Bazaar, one of the city's landmarks. From here we will reach Balat along the Golden Horn.
In Balat we will visit St. Stephen's Church of the Bulgarians, unique because it is made entirely of cast iron, and stroll among the neighborhood's famous colorful houses.
We will continue to Fener, where we will see the Greek Orthodox High School and the famous colorful staircase, perfect for unforgettable photos. We will also visit the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, the spiritual center of the Orthodox world.
During the tour we will take a break at a local coffee shop, where it will be possible (optional, not included) to taste Turkish coffee.
Finally we will reach Eminönü to discover the Rüstem Paşa Mosque, famous for its Iznik ceramics, and the Balkapanı Hanı, an old Ottoman caravanserai.
We will end the tour by returning to where we started, amid the scents of the Spice Bazaar, talking about the historical ties between Istanbul and Venice.
