Overview

The walking tour includes an introduction to 10 iconic sites in the historic center of Iași, along with recommendations for your stay (where to eat, drink, and go out), visiting hours for attractions, and other useful tips. Highlights include Union Square, Miron Costin Square, the National Theater & Opera, the Metropolitan Cathedral of Moldavia, the Roman Catholic Diocese, the Three Hierarchs Monastery, and the Palace of Culture (end point).

The tours are led by volunteers, including certified tour guides, students, and graduates of Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași, all passionate about geography, architecture, and history.

This is a tip-based activity. Group size is usually 5–10 people, offering a great opportunity to meet other travelers.

On arrival

Piața Unirii / the Union Square) is the „kilometer-zero” place of the city of Iași. It is located in the historical center, at the cross between the streets Lăpușneanu, Arcu and Cuza-Vodă.
The meeting point will be (in front of) the Alexandru Ioan Cuza statue at the heart of the square, near Grand Hotel Traian. (Please book before showing up, to make sure a guide will be there).

Things to note

From June to September - please wear caps (hats) for the sun and light-colored clothing, shorts, and short sleeves, and bring a bottle of water.
From December to February - please dress well! (Stockings underpants, hat, warm jacket, gloves). It is important to attend a comfortable tour.
