Overview
Cooking Tanzanian Food: Learn how to cook traditional Tanzanian dishes as an add-on service to any tour in Dar es Salaam. We offer a traditional local cooking class. This cooking class is relaxed. Hakuna Matata! Not only will you get to enjoy and taste the local cuisine, but you will also have the opportunity to learn more about the lifestyles of many villagers in Dar es Salaam in a hands-on way. Accompanied by our village mamas, you will go to the farm to source your fresh ingredients, cook dishes by following step-by-step recipes, and enjoy a lesson on how to serve these traditional dishes.
In our cooking class, you will learn how to cook traditional local food, including Machalari (banana dishes), chapati, Mtori, pilau, and dagaa (omena). You will also have the opportunity to make Ugali. Ugali is Tanzania’s most famous dish, made with cassava flour, cornmeal, and millet or sorghum flour.
- We will cook the meal together for the ultimate experience.
- We will go to buy groceries from the local market together.
- We can go for a walk or a picnic after the meal.
- My sibling will take free pictures and videos of us cooking.
