Free Hiking Tour Cusco: Qenqo, Moon & Monkey Temples
Overview
The experience begins at the Inca Statue in Plaza de Armas, Cusco, where you'll meet your guide, José Martínez, also known as "Cusco Guide," wearing a red "Free Walking Tour Cusco" T-shirt. From there, you'll travel to Qenqo to begin your hike above the city.
Follow ancient Inca trails through eucalyptus forests, scenic viewpoints, and sacred archaeological sites. Visit the Moon Temple and Monkey Temple while learning about the Inca worldview and how nature, astronomy, and ritual were deeply connected.
Discover key symbols of Andean culture: the sacred mountains (Apus), Pachamama, and the condor–puma–snake trilogy, representing different levels of existence.
Enjoy panoramic views over Cusco and the surrounding valleys on an easy-to-moderate hike that combines history, culture, and nature.

On arrival
-The meeting point is in front of the Inca Statue, located in the center of Plaza de Armas (Main Square) in Cusco.
-Look for Jose Martinez (Cusco Guide) wearing a red “Free Walking Tour Cusco” T-shirt.
-Please arrive 5 minutes before your scheduled departure time. The tour begins promptly 5 minutes after the scheduled start time, and late arrivals may not be able to join the group.
Things to note
- Transport: From Plaza de Armas to Qenqo, a 15-minute ride (6 soles per person), paid directly to the driver.
- Tip-based tour: There is no fixed price. Please wear comfortable walking shoes (closed-toe shoes recommended; avoid sandals), and bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a bottle of water, and a rain jacket or poncho from October through March. For the 6:00 PM evening tour, bring a warm jacket or sweater.
- Can't attend?
Please modify your reservation to change the number of participants or the date and time. If you can no longer join, kindly cancel your booking so the guide and group don't have to wait, and your spot can be available for other travelers.
