Overview
DAY 1:
- The day will begin with pick-up at your hotel at 4:00 a.m. and transfer to Ollantaytambo station, from where you will take the train at 6:00 a.m. to kilometer 104, the starting point of the 2-day Inca Trail. Together with your guide, you will walk for 3 hours to the archaeological complex of Wiñaywayna, where you can explore and receive an explanation. Then, you will have lunch and continue walking 2 more hours to the Sun Gate (Intipunku) to enjoy a panoramic view of Machu Picchu. After walking 45 minutes to the citadel, you will have time to take pictures and enjoy the site. Finally, you will descend to Aguas Calientes to spend the night in a hotel and have dinner at a nearby restaurant.
DAY 2:
- After breakfast at the hotel, we will head to the bus station to take the road to Machu Picchu. We will begin a 2.5-hour guided tour of the Lost City of the Incas, where you will learn about its history. Afterwards, you will have free time to explore Machu Picchu on your own. Afterwards, we will return to Aguas Calientes for lunch, and finally take the train back to Ollantaytambo, followed by a bus to Cusco.
