On this free walking tour, you’ll explore the historic Coptic quarter, home to some of Egypt’s most important religious monuments and centuries of fascinating history. Stroll through the ancient Roman fortress of Babylon, visit the famous Hanging Church, discover the Church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus—which is believed to have sheltered the Holy Family during their journey through Egypt—and learn about the rich heritage of Cairo’s Coptic community.

On arrival
Meet your guide at the exit of the Mar Girgis metro station (the “Cairo Coptic” exit). The guide will be waiting for you near the main entrance.
Please arrive 10 minutes before the start time. Look for your guide, who will be holding a sign with the tour name on it.
If you have any trouble finding the meeting point, please contact us before the tour begins.
We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes and bringing water, especially during the warmer months.

• Admission to the Coptic Museum is optional and not included in the tour.

• This is a walking tour with a moderate level of exertion.
