Overview
A free walking tour with a personal feel focused on the true meaning of freedom, a key concept for the Hungarian nation. Listen to stories of heroic attitudes and human endeavor in the midst of war, chaos, and dictatorships. A scenic, panoramic route with hidden gems.
The tour starts at Saint Stephen's Basilica, in front of the California Coffee Company coffee shop. The next stop is Liberty Square with the memorial of the victims of Nazi occupation and the Soviet Liberation Monument. Then we will admire the magnificent Hungarian Parliament building. From here we walk along the river Danube to see the Monument of the Shoes, commemorating the Jewish martyrs of WW2. Then we admire the majestic Chain Bridge with breathtaking panoramic views over the Buda Castle. We will arrive at Elisabeth Square with the lovers' locks, and we will finally end our tour in the Jewish Quarter seeing the last fragment of the Ghetto Wall.
Professional guides who love their homeland and provide an in-depth introduction to the Hungarian psyche and society as well, not only buildings and mainstream tourist spots.
