Overview
Discover a side of Bucharest that most visitors never see, where bustling markets, local food, industrial heritage, green spaces and centuries-old history come together.
Our tour begins at Obor Market, one of Bucharest’s most famous and vibrant markets. This is where you can experience the city through its flavours, sounds and everyday life. We’ll explore the market, discover local products and traditions, hear stories about the neighbourhood, and, of course, talk about one of Romania’s most iconic street foods: mici – delicious grilled rolls of seasoned minced meat served with mustard.
From here, we head towards Assan’s Mill, one of the city’s most fascinating industrial landmarks. Built in the 19th century, the former mill tells the story of Bucharest’s transformation from a commercial town into a modern industrial city.
The walk continues towards Tei Park and Lake Tei, following the waterways and green spaces of the Colentina area. Along the way, we discover how the landscape and neighbourhoods of eastern Bucharest have evolved.
Our final destination is Plumbuita Monastery, a historic monument surrounded by greenery and connected to centuries of Bucharest’s history.
