Overview
Forget the usual boring historical dates. I propose an urban adventure to really understand what makes Bucharest unique, with a focus on the deep (and often surprising) ties that connect us to Italy.
We leave at 10:45 a.m. from the Lupa Capitolina in Rome Square. From there, we will begin a journey through the centuries:
Origins: From the Dacians to the Roman Empire.
Medieval Mysteries: Vlad the Impaler, beyond the myth of Dracula.
East vs. West: How Ottoman and French influence created an incredible mix.
The Italian Touch: I'll show you where Italy made its mark in Bucharest in the 1900s.
The Marble Giant: We'll end up in front of the Palace of Parliament to tell about the Ceaușescu era and life under the dictatorship.
We will not give you the usual Wikipedia explanations: we will make constant parallels with Italian history to make you feel "at home" while being elsewhere.
Practical info:
Duration: 2h 30m walk in the historic center.
End: Approximately 1:30 pm, in front of the Palace of Parliament.
Price: The tour is based on free donations. You decide the value of this experience.
