Alternative Berlin Street Art & Subculture Day Night Tour
Overview
DAY - Street art, squats, underground history from Kreuzberg to Friedrichshain.
NIGHT - Murals, graffiti, canals, clubs and Berlin after dark.
BERLIN’S UNDERGROUND. NOT FROM INSTAGRAM.
No Haus Schwarzenberg. No Holzmarkt 25. No predictable “Alternative Berlin” checklist.
New to Freetour.com. Not new to Alternative Berlin. I created the original tour concept 20 years ago and have 25+ years in Berlin’s alternative scene—running bars, clubs and galleries.
Discover squats, courtyards and industrial ruins. See a Kreuzberg music venue frequented by David Bowie, Iggy Pop. Hear about bars beneath manholes, see a pub where elderly punks still gather, train-yard politics, rooftop graffiti and street codes used by the left and Antifa.
Day Shift includes a former squatted hospital, the Treehouse beside the Wall, reggae beach culture, Berghain’s exterior and a bombed railway depot now an alternative playground.
Night Shift follows the Spree to the canal clubs as bars open and Berlin comes alive.
NO COLOURED UMBRELLAS. NO HEADSETS.
Maximum 12 guests. Everything is on foot, so no transport ticket is needed.
The best things in Berlin aren’t sold. They’re discovered.
On arrival
We meet across the road from Coretex records on Oranienstrasse 2. There is a park across the road from Coretex records, I will be standing there facing the store. From Ubahn Gorlitzer bahnhof walk along Oranienstrasse 30 metres and you will see the black and white sign. We are across the road from here near the red benches. I generally wear black.
Things to note
The day and night tours begin at the same meeting point but will finish at different locations.
Day tour finishes at Revealer strasse 99, Friedrichshain.
Evening tour finishes at Am Flutgraben 1, Kreuzberg.
