Overview
Meet near Wangfujing subway station at 7:15. We will wander through quiet old hutong lanes towards Zhaojunsheng, a real‑life community market favoured by local residents, not a tourist‑oriented bazaar.
Along the way, we sample traditional Beijing breakfast. Once inside the lively morning market, we observe local seniors shopping for fresh produce. As your guide, I will act as a bridge for casual, spontaneous conversations with vendors.
We will use breakfast as our starting point to travel across China: talking about breakfast culture of different regions of China. You will learn how climate, geography and local history have shaped distinct eating habits all over this vast country.
The tour finishes around 9:15. This leaves you valuable time to join the queue for the Forbidden City and Tiananmen square and make the most out of your day in central Beijing.
