Overview of the tour in Beijing
Meet your tour guide in your Beijing downtown hotel's lobby, then take the subway or taxi at your own expense to the Temple of Heaven.
Upon arrival, stroll around the park to enjoy the local elderly enjoying their exercises, dances, singing, playing cards, and martial arts. Your tour guide will explain retirement in China and the daily lives of its older citizens. Feel free to join them if you want.
Then follow your tour guide to explore the important buildings inside the Temple of Heaven. You will start your visit from the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests. The whole building is constructed without a single nail, it is considered as a masterpiece of wood frame construction in China. Enjoy in-depth talks and discussions focused on Ming and Qing dynasties. Feel free to ask questions if you have any.
Stroll along the Danbi Bridge, learn the stories of the 9-Dragon Juniper, then test how echo works at the Echo Wall Complex, and finally visit the Circular Mound Altar, where Ming and Qing emperors worshipped heaven during the winter solstice.
Your tour will end at the South Gate. Your tour guide will help you to find a taxi to your next destination (at your own cost).
