Overview of the tour in Barcelona

Colonia Iulia Augusta Faventia Paterna Barcino was founded in the 1st century B.C.E. by the Emperor Augustus with the purpose that the licensed legionaries of the Cantabrian wars could settle there.

The chosen place was a promontory near the coast, known as Mount Táber. Its location next to the sea and the Via Augusta, made Barcino prosper easily thanks to the trade and the wealth of its agricultural products.

The city was structured following classical patterns with an orthogonal plan that was divided by cardos and decumans. In the central part, current Plaça de Sant Jaume, was the forum, surrounded by imposing public buildings.

During our itinerary we can discover the remains of the sepulchral path found under the Plaza de la Villa de Madrid, we will walk next to the canvases of the old wall and we will see how some of its towers were incorporated into much more modern buildings. We will walk through the Gothic Quarter to recognize the old aqueduct and we will know the columns that are preserved from the Temple of Augustus. We will also show you everything you can find if you visit the MUHBA, in Plaza del Rey.

2) Our itineraries have been designed to avoid possible crowds and escape from confined spaces. In addition, they are one-way tours to avoid crossing with other groups. Our guides coordinate live to share information on less crowded itineraries.

3) All our guides have been trained in health risk prevention and the fight against coronavirus. The person in charge of the guides and the person in charge of customer service make up the Arkeo Tour® risk management committee and carry out a daily monitoring of the safety measures.

4) In all our guided tours we use voice transmission and amplification equipment. This way we guarantee the highest quality in the guide's explanations and we can maintain a safe distance between group members.

5) Our team uses approved masks in all our activities and is carried out in daily control of the temperature of each of the guides. Likewise, we will have hydroalcoholic gel for the use of all our users.

6) We have completely digitized the reservation service, thus avoiding the transfer of documents. The reservation confirmation can be downloaded from any mobile phone to show the guide at the beginning of the visit. The sending of brochures and information is now also done completely telematically.
