Baku Beyond the Walls: The Outer City
Overview
Stroll through hidden courtyards, restored mansions, and forgotten public buildings, each a silent witness to Baku’s rise as the “Paris of the Caucasus.” Let the stories of struggle and innovation, of culture and devotion, weave a tapestry of a city where tradition meets modernity.
Join us for a journey through time, architecture, and everyday life, where the true soul of Baku waits to be discovered — right where history happened.
Our Guides
On arrival
Our meeting point is İçərişəhər (Icherisheher) Metro Station, right at the main entrance/exit on Istiglaliyyat Street, next to the small park and souvenir shops. It’s easy to find — look for the round glass metro entrance and “İçərişəhər” sign above it.
If you’re coming from the city center (Fountain Square or Nizami Street), take the Red Metro Line toward Icherisheher Station, which is the final stop in that direction. Taxis and Bolt rides can also drop you directly at the metro entrance — just type “Icherisheher Metro Station” into your map app.
Please arrive 10 minutes earlier than the scheduled start time. The group will depart 10 minutes after the official start, and late arrivals unfortunately won’t be able to join once the tour begins.
We look forward to welcoming you at the gates of the Old City to begin your Bayirsheher adventure.
