Free Monumental Tour of Avila

Join a fascinating walking tour of Avila and let yourself be enveloped by its medieval essence, its religious legacy, and its heritage jewels. We start in the Plaza de Santa Teresa, where you will meet the key figure of the city. We will walk through the viewpoint of the Paseo del Rastro, with unique views of the valley and the wall. We will visit the Basilica of Santa Teresa, built on the site of her birthplace.

We continue to the Plaza del Corral de Campanas, a charming corner with historical secrets, and from there to the Palacio de los Superunda, witness of centuries of history, and the nearby Palacio de los Guzmanes, symbol of the noble power of Avila.

We stop at the Plaza de Pedro Dávila, with its emblematic manor house, before entering the heart of the city: the Plaza del Mercado Chico, ancient Roman forum and nerve center of local life. We will explore the exterior of the Cathedral of Avila, the first Gothic cathedral in Spain, and end at the imposing Basilica of San Vicente, a jewel of Romanesque architecture and the place of martyrdom of Saints Vicente, Sabina, and Cristeta.
