Tarangire National Park is the sixth largest National Park in Tanzania. It is most popular for its large elephant herds and mini wildlife migration that takes place during the dry season, which sees about 250,000 animals enter the park.
Each year, from June to November, Tarangire witnesses a unique wildlife migration. Though not as dramatic as the Serengeti's Wildebeest Migration, it draws many animals. In this dry region, the Tarangire River becomes the sole water source, attracting wildebeests, elephants, gazelles, zebras, hartebeests, buffaloes, and predators like lions.
During the rainy months (November to May), zebras and wildebeests head northwest toward the Rift Valley floor, joining the multitude of animals across the vast Masaai Steppe, extending to Lake Manyara.
