Overview of the tour in Arusha

Pick up from your hotel in Arusha at around 06:30am and drive on a tarmac road 130Km (2 hours) to Lake Manyara National Park (330 Km2). This park is one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a massive but shallow soda lake located at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. The park’s varied habitat attracts a wide variety of animals, including one of Africa’s largest concentrations of elephants, Lake Manyara's unique tree-climbing lions, as well as large flocks of flamingos. Lake Manyara is a scenic gem, with a setting extolled by Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest I had seen in Africa”. From the entrance gate, along the roadside, blue monkeys scamper nimbly between the ancient mahogany trees, dainty bush buck tread warily through the shadows, and out sized forest horn bills honk cacophonous in the high canopy.
