Overview

Discover Zagreb beyond the postcards on a walking tour filled with history, legends and local stories. Join me for a journey through the heart of Croatia’s capital and discover how two medieval towns, Kaptol and Gradec, became the Zagreb we know today.

We will explore the main square and learn about the origins of the city, visit the impressive Zagreb Cathedral, discover the lively Dolac Market and hear stories about local traditions, food and everyday life. We will walk through the charming streets of Tkalčićeva, uncover the mystery behind Bloody Bridge, explore the hidden Grič Tunnel and enter the medieval world of the Stone Gate.

During the tour, you will see St Mark’s Church with its famous colourful roof, learn about Croatian history and culture, discover the stories behind Zagreb’s symbols and enjoy one of the best viewpoints over the city from Gradec.

This is more than a sightseeing tour. It is a personal introduction to Zagreb, combining fascinating history, funny stories, local traditions and the small details that make this city special.

Perfect for first-time visitors who want to understand Zagreb and experience the city through the eyes of a local guide.

Things to note

This is a tip-based walking tour. There is no fixed price, and you decide what the experience was worth. Tips are always appreciated and help support independent local guides.

A minimum of 3 adult participants is required for the tour to operate.

Please arrive 5 minutes before the starting time.

The tour takes place outdoors, so please wear comfortable shoes and dress according to the weather.

The tour lasts approximately 2 hours and includes walking on cobblestone streets and some uphill areas of the Old Town.

If you would like to enter Zagreb Cathedral, please dress appropriately for a church visit. Shoulders and knees should be covered. You may bring a scarf or shawl to cover up if needed. Entering the cathedral is optional, and guests are welcome to stay outside and continue exploring the area.

How can the tour be free?

Our concept is simple — there is no set price. Instead, you tip your guide at the end of the tour whatever amount feels right to you. Typically, guests give between $10 to €50, depending on their satisfaction and budget.

Most guides accept cash or card payments, or you can do it via our app.
